Cement Plant and Quarry
Southwestern Cement Products, dating back to the early 1900's, was a sizable employer in the mid-1950's and dominates our representation of the town.

A Santa Fe time freight rushes through the Upper Mojave River Narrows to reach Victorville.

The fuel oil dealer and lumberyard along our D Street can be seen. These two businesses form the demand for boxcars in Victorville. In contrast, the real fuel oil tanks no longer have rail access.

Southwestern Cement Products ran its own railroad, the Mojave Northern, to reach its quarries (11 miles away.) The quarries, with their own railroad trackage, will be modeled on the left side of this picture.

The industrial complex is serviced from the siding, while the mainline track is on the far right of the picture.

The track leading to the helix entrance (down to La Junta, CO) is in the center.

Will have new pictures in a few weeks.  Also complete.
